In response to several requests, we have created a ME Google Calendar which notifies people as to who may be out of the office on particular days. It will also eventually have important departmental deadlines posted to it. For example, when the spring semester grad student appointments are due to ME Payroll. The link is on the ME website in the intranet section.

There will be a total power outage of the old ME West Wing and
the Akerman Hall Lower Level this Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 7:00
a.m. - 3:00 p.m. They need to de-energize electrical panels to convert
feeders to the permanent power.
Please note no one is
allowed in the building during this time. Please be sure to power off
your computers, refrigerators, etc. prior to leaving on Friday.
This outage does not affect ME Net's Room 10, panels CP$, CP1 & 2
or UNITE's chiller. For Akerman, there will be no power in rooms
3,5,7,9 15, sub-basement of room 7 and sub basement IDF room.
Here are some changes to the upcoming water outages that I announced on May 27, 2015:
On June 10, 2015 the water in new ME will be shut off for the work being done on the Scholars Walk. The City of Minneapolis will be doing this work. No restrooms will be available in new ME. You should be able to use the restrooms in old ME. I don't have an exact time for this shutdown, but I believe it is all day.
On June 11, 2015 the water in old ME and Akerman Hall will be shut down from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the installation of PRV stations in the restrooms and to tie in the new water lines to Akerman. Restrooms will be available in new ME.
There are several upcoming building disruptions I want to make you aware of. Please see the list below:
June 10, 2015 from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the water in old ME and Akerman Hall will be shutdown to install PRV Stations and tie in new lines to Akerman Hall. This means that the restrooms in these buildings will be unavailable for use. The restrooms in new ME will be usable.
From June 10, 2015 through June 13, 2015, the data networks will be demoed and the wiring will be re-pulled to the 1st and 2nd floor of Rapson. So anyone with an office in the Rapson Link will not have any data jacks available to use during these days. This outage includes data jacks, wireless, and telephones.
On Saturday, June 13, all of the power in old ME and Akerman will be shut down the the day. The electrical outage is needed to take the fire pump off the temporary service and connect it to the permanent electrical service.
Just a reminder, that the minute you log into the new My U, you have direct access to OHR information without re-authenticating. So my recommendation to protect yourself, is to lock your screen whenever you leave your desk, if you are signed into My U.
SPA will continue to process proposals during the cut over period and will
collect required information from the PRF and proposal that will then be
entered into EFS (PS 9.2) once the upgrade has been successfully
completed. You will not be able to access proposal information in EFS
during the cutover period.
Proposal Routing Forms (PRF) will be available for PI's/Colleges/Departments
through Thursday, 4/16. You will not be able to access the PRF in EGMS
from Friday, 4/17 through Sunday, 4/19. We are targeting Monday, 4/20
when the PRF will become available.
Sub PO's, foreign and domestic sub award invoices:
To allow enough time for SPA to review/process PO's and sub invoices (that have
been approved by PI/Department) so they can be entered into EFS prior to the
EFS cutover period must be received in SPA by the following date and time.
1. Foreign sub invoice payments (wire/drafts) need to be received by SPA by
noon on Monday, 3/30 processing prior to the EFS cutover.
2. Domestic sub invoices need to be received by SPA by noon on Thursday, 4/2 for
processing prior to the EFS cutover.
3. For sub award PO's SPA will need to have received the signed sub award
agreement from the sub recipient (if Federal all applicable FFATA, FCOI and
FSRS requirements have been met) by noon on Wednesday, 4/1 for processing prior
to the EFS cutover.
4. SPA will continue to negotiate, prepare and issue sub
awards during this cutover period.
Any documents received after the above referenced deadlines SPA will enter
prior to the EFS cutover if time allows, but in most cases the documents will
not be processed until after the cutover period.
SPA will continue to negotiate agreements, review and submit
agency requests, execute agreements during the cutover period.
SPA will not be able to process any awards, NCE, etc. in EFS
during the cutover period.
All Cost Share budgets should be verified by CA’s by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 4/7,
including requests for any changes.
Due to the ongoing construction
project, the phone service in new ME, old ME, Rapson Link, and Aerospace
Engineering will be down from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March
20. They are cutting over to the new phone service that week.
Some suggestions I have as to how to handle daily business with no phone service are listed below.
will still receive voice messages on your number. You can call your
phone number using your cell phone to retrieve them. You can also have
them sent to your email and retrieve them from there or you can log on
to http://go4msg.umn.edu to retrieve them.
recommend putting an outgoing voice message on your phone prior to
March 16 indicating that our phone service is under construction and
asking them to either send you an email or call your cell phone, if
you're comfortable giving out your cell phone number.
are planning on the outage for the entire week. However, some phones
will come live earlier. We won't really know until they start the cut
